Cadillac XTS

There isn’t much that you would dislike on the Cadillac XTS, especially when it comes to the setting. The seats are wrapped in leather upholstery as standard. Optional fitments are ventilated and heated front seats. Moreover, the buyers can even opt for a heated steering wheel and a 22-way adjustable seat massaging feature.

The soft-touch material on the cabin, especially the dashboard, feels great. The cargo space is also decent, much bigger than many of the competitors. The dashboard holds an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The entertainment box includes a 14-speaker audio system from Bose.

The Cadillac XTS sedan looks like a premium sedan and is so to a great extent. The angular front fascia and the large grille adds a supreme touch to the design. The headlamp design is inspired by its SUV sibling and looks amazing, especially with the projector setup.

The sides are decently molded into shape without many strong character lines. However, the rear end is something to love, thanks to the L-shaped taillights and the strip of the stoplight on the trunk lid. A spare 18-inch tire is offered as an option, while 19-inch wheels are standard. However, the top trims also get a 20-inch wheel option.

The twin-turbo V-Sport variant is much more responsive and fun to drive, thanks to the twin turbochargers. The base engine is best for daily commute while the higher grade takes on the open highways pretty well. The presence of adaptive suspension ensures that the drive is absolutely safe and cushiony.

The Cadillac XTS returns with a mileage of 19 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway. However, since the V-Sport is set up with turbochargers, with the premium gasoline, it can offer up to 16 mpg in the city and goes up to 23mpg on the highway.

The Cadillac XTS holds a very powerful and responsive engine under the hood. To put things in perspective, there is a 3.6-liter, V6 engine that can churn out 304 horsepower. However, there is also a V-Sport trim that uses the same engine but adds twin turbochargers to belt out up to 410 horsepower and a whopping 500 Nm of torque.

As for the transmission, there is a 6-speed automatic gearbox for both the engine options.

The Cadillac XTS is much better than most cars in this price range, especially when it comes to the safety parameters. The cabin gets 10 airbags as standard, which is rare in a car of this range. The anti-lock braking system on the disc brakes is also standard.

There is a whole lot of safety features on offer, including that of electronic traction control, forward collision alert, automatic braking for both forward and reverse, lane change assist, low-speed automatic braking, passenger sensing system, etc.

Apart from these, other safety features include rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, side blind-spot alert, etc.

The company did manage to place the car in the lower premium car segment. However, when it comes to the features, be it engine specifications and safety, the Cadillac XTS is not a bad car by any means. It is an all-rounder in the segment and would be the perfect fit to justify the price charged for it. 

However, there are always alternative options available in any specific price range, in this case, from the likes of Audi, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz.
