Ford Taurus Review 2024
With the Taurus, Ford has made the Americans believe that it still has the potential of making fast, authoritative and luxurious sedans, rather than focusing just on SUVs. With a similar appeal of that of the traditional American muscle cars, the Ford Taurus is currently the flagship saloon of the company. Cord has made the Taurus in four different variants – SE, SEL, Limited and SHO, and one petrol engine in two states of tune.

Ford Taurus Interior & Features
It is not only the outer design of the Ford Taurus which needs a refresh, the car demands some fresh changes on the inside as well. In this day and age of minimalism and shift towards touch panels, the cabin of the Ford Taurus feels a bit outdated with a number of buttons here and there.
However, there is no denying the fact that the cabin feels huge and wide, with the angular design of the dashboard clearly working in favour of the Taurus. The all-black cabin adds some sportiness to the cabin, with the faux wood finish adding the luxury element. However, while the instrument console has a modern design, the multi-functional steering wheel and the centre console look very dated.
On the other hand, the cabin feels spacious, with both the front and rear row of seats offering great comfort levels. Also, with features like heated, cooled and powered front seats with memory function, dual-zone climate control, leather upholstery, ambient lighting, and a touchscreen infotainment system from Sony with Apple Carplay and Android Auto, it feels decently equipped as well. However, given its price, more features would have made it a fresher place to be in.
Taurus Exterior
Fitting the title of the flagship saloon, the Ford Taurus has got massive dimensions, which do manage to give it a striking and authoritative road presence of a big luxury sedan. However, on closer introspection, one will find that the overall design has started to show its age.
The Ford Taurus has a slanting front fascia with a tilted hexagonal grille, which has got another extended V-shaped chrome accent on the air dam below it. The long and sleek block-shaped headlamps with projector bulbs within them look a bit plain though. However, what adds a bulky character to the front fascia is the wide bulge on the front bonnet, which gives it an appeal of a muscle car.
On the other hand, the side profile has a rather bland design, which is tried to be saved by the blingy chrome finished rearview mirrors and garnish around the side glass areas and. The large 20-inch alloy wheels, as well as underbody cladding, do give it a powerful stance.
It is the rear, which adds in some visual bulk to the overall design. The boot lit design looks massive with its broad, tilted and flat design, which do make the Taurus look large from the rear. However, the tail lamp and boot lid designs are a tad too simple and not as flashy as one would expect from a car of this class.
Ford Taurus Ride & Handling
Being a Ford, the Taurus has got spot-on driving manners with a plush suspension setup, which makes the back seat experience quite sorted. At the same time, the driving experience of the Ford Taurus isn’t diluted as well, with slightly stiffer steering setup giving the driver amazing feedback and stability around corners.
Taurus Engine & Fuel Consumption
For the Taurus, Ford has chosen the 3.5-litre petrol engine which is available in two states of tune. While the range-topping SHO variant gets the turbocharged version which produces a maximum power output of 368 PS and a maximum torque output of 475 Nm, other variants get the same engine in naturally aspirated version, which makes 290 PS of power and 344 Nm of torque. Both the variants get a 6-speed automatic gearbox as standard.
Ford Taurus Braking & Safety
While the Ford Taurus still feels a generation old as compared to other full-size luxury sedans in terms of features, the flagship Ford sedan still has some crucial safety features onboard. The list includes front, side, curtain and knee airbags, ABS with EBD, adaptive cruise control, front collision warning, lane keep assist, blind-spot monitoring system, active park assist, electronic stability control, and rear cross-traffic alert.
Taurus Verdict
In today’s times, the Ford Taurus feels a bit dated and old school in comparison to other full-size flagship saloons due to outdated styling and limited features in and out, which robs off the novelty factor from it. However, the sorted on-road manners with a great balance of ride comfort and performance make sure the Ford Taurus isn’t out of the game yet.
