Toyota Corolla has always been the car of choice for people who want the most out of their buck, which is probably the reason why it is the highest-selling car in the world. With the 2020 Corolla, Toyota attempted to make up for the styling critique it received with the previous iteration of the model. The new Corolla now features a fresh and exuberant styling approach but the overall aesthetic still remains subjective to one’s individual taste. The all-new Corolla also gets attractive features and offers an improved driving experience. The most popular model from the stables of Toyota is now available both as a sedan as well as a hatchback.

In the 2020 Corolla Toyota has introduced a hybrid variant for the first time. The new Corolla finds its underpinnings in the company's new Global Architecture Platform which also underpins the Toyota RAV4 SUV and the full-size Camry sedan. The all-new Corolla is one of the most affordable offerings in its segment with prices starting from $20,430 for the base ‘L’ sedan model and $21,070 for the base ‘SXE’ hatchback version. Toyota only offers the hybrid powertrain in the ‘LE’ variant of the sedan model type which is priced at $23,880.

Every variant of Toyota Corolla comes with well-designed interiors that feature a streamlined design and soft-touch material covered panels.  Features like push-button start, touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Amazon Alexa compatibility, mobile hotspot and passive entry come as standard across all Corolla models. 

The top-of-the-range model also gets a wireless charging feature and an improved audio system design by JBL, but surprisingly no Android Auto. Buyers also get to choose optional extras like dual-zone climate control, heated front seats and ambient interior lighting.

Most Toyota Corolla models are powered by a 1.8-liter 4-cylinder gasoline engine which produces 139 BHP of power and 126 lb-ft of torque, except the SE and XSE models. The most powerful models like the SE and XSE get a 169 BHP 2-liter 4-cylinder unit which produces 151 lb-ft of torque and is offered with the option of either a 6-speed manual or a continuously variable automatic transmission.

All hatchback variants of 2020 Corolla feature the larger 2-liter powerplant but the hybrid mill is only available in the sedan body type. Both SE and XSE variants get stiff sport-tuned suspension but only the XSE trim features 18-inch rims whereas the rest of the lineup is only available with an option of either a 15-inch or 16-inch alloys.

Even though both of the non-hybrid 4-cylinder gasoline powerplants offer impressive fuel economy, it is the hybrid mill which steals the spotlight with its EPA estimated fuel economy of 53 MPG in the city and 52 MPG on the highway. Toyota Corolla earned a five-star crash test safety rating for both sedan and hatchback models from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Also on offer is a plethora of standard driver assistance technology which includes features like automated emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and lane-keeping assist.
