Toyota has been selling Camry since 1982. The car has grown from being a compact-sized sedan to a mid-size body car. It can coast along with five people, owing to which, it has been well welcomed by American families. The car is based on the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform that comprises a strong yet light body frame for ride handling and quality enhancement. Camry is also furnished with a robust set of safety modules. Thanks to the same that has got it the highest possible ease-of-use rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. However, the nameplate’s description needs elaborative words, which must start from its outfit.
Camry’s interior is ruled by a large grille that runs up to the front bumper at the bottom. There is also a thin chrome line at the centre of the bumper, which the front’s lower end. Above the grille hangs the brand’s logo and sharp LED headlights at the loins. This is followed by a sporty bonnet that contains a number of strikes. After that, we get to see the two-tone colour scheme on the roof, which can be opened to enjoy the sun and airspeed. The roof more or less also extends as the rear windshield. This is followed by the trunk lid that has an extended lip as the rear spoiler. It is flanked by narrow LED taillights, which are partitioned between the lid and the rear body.
Getting inside the car, the driver will be very glad to have a driver-focused design. It means everything the driver needs will be close to his/her hand. The car gets an eight-inch multimedia touchscreen display that is a part of the infotainment system. There is also a seven-inch multi-information display which is further assisted by a 10-inch colour head-up unit.
The car is available in seven trims, L, LE, SE, XLE, XSE, XLE V6 and XSE V6. The first four trims are powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder petrol Dual VVT-i mill, which is capable of delivering a maximum power of 203 hp and a peak torque of 249 Nm. The XSE has the same engine but the tuning is a bit different. It pushes out a maximum power of 206 hp along with a peak torque of 252 Nm. The remaining two comes with a 3.5-liter Dual VVT-i petrol engine that can provide a maximum power of 301 hp, while the peak torque sticks to 362 Nm. The power is sent to the wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission for all the trim levels. The engines are equipped with a front-wheel-drive system.
Coming to the safety system, the Camry feature Star Safety System that includes four-wheel Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) along with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), Enhanced Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Traction Control (TRAC), Smart Stop (SST) and Brake Assist (BA). Moreover, the car comes with ten airbags, side-impact door beams, Toyota Safety Sense, and a lot more.
