Production of the Cadillac CT6 & CT6-V will come to a halt next month
Following much drama, rumors, and speculations, the production of the Cadillac CT6 & CT6-V will, at last, come to an end in January 2020. With that in place now, around 814 hourly and salaried workers who were assigned to the Cadillac CT6 & CT6-V will return home and begin hunting for new jobs. Although it set for the Cadillac CT6 & CT6-V to walk out in June, earlier this year, the Cadillac CT6 along with the Chevrolet was given an extension till the end of 2019.
The Cadillac CT6 came out of the automaker's production facilities back in 2016 and was successful in creating a stir in the automobile scene. However, the luxury sedan's 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder equipped entry-level model couldn't grab much attention and satisfy its customers. Later in 2018, Cadillac introduced a refreshed model of the CT6 alongside the CT6-V with the menacing 4.2-litre Blackwing twin-turbo V8 motor.
Out of the 814 total workers, many of which are part of the United Autoworkers Union (UAW), all of them won't be losing their jobs, though. The individuals who are part of the United Autoworkers Union (UAW) will be offered a relocation offer for other plants in Michigan or Ohio. Also, they can simply settle for a buyout as well. What happens to the production facility? Well, Cadillac is working on equipping the Detroit-Hamtramck plant with new tools and machinery to build EV and SUVs since the future certainly belongs to them only.
While the Cadillac CT6 won't be manufactured in the US anymore, the luxury sedan will, however, keep on extending its journey in China.
