GM halted sales of 2020 Camaro, concern emission standards

It seems that things are not going to be fine for Chevrolet Camaro soon. The rumors about the near demise of the model are already spreading all over the internet. And now a recent report from General Motors mentioned that the automaker has halted the sales of 2020 Camaro for now due to emission-related issue.

As per GM Authority, the concerned problem may affect around 2000 units of 2020 model year Camaro, which are powered by 3.6-litre V6 engine. The report also explains that the problem is related to the vehicle's evaporative emissions canister, which may produce emissions more than the accepted limit. Currently, the firm is engaged in analyzing the issue deeply and trying to come up with a sure answer, but before that the sale has been restricted. If the team found any defect, the fixing process will be performed and only then the sales will resume.

If we talk about the current status of affected vehicles, some of them are in transit, some are held by the dealers and some are sold. The exact number of sold vehicles is still not known. For this, the company states if the defect is found, a further notice will be issued for the vehicle owners.

Speaking about the sales of Camaro in the last few years, it is continuously declining. The fitting issues of the 2018 design also contributed a lot to this declining trend. Though the firm instantly launched a facelift version, but sales could not thrive. Besides Camaro, the Ford Mustang sales also show a declining trend because of the 2018 facelift design.
