Ford vaunts F-150 EV prototype’s might; hauls over 1 million pounds
What a powerful EV can do? Well, it can offer a massive torque, an impressive range and a hefty of modern techs. But it looks like that Ford has something more to offer with its upcoming F-150 EV. To boast the electric coaster’s might, the American automaker has released a video of an F-10 EV prototype that shows the pickup lugging ten double-decker cargo carriages loaded with 42 F-150s.
As one can recall, the electric version of the best selling ute in America was announced in early 2019 by the company’s president Jim Farley. A hybrid version of the same nameplate is making its way in 2020 but there have been no words from Ford about the arrival time of the pure electric variant. Also, we are yet to know anything about the specs of this EV pickup.
The recently uploaded video that vaunts the EV’s ability is enough to confirm that the company is going to deliver something big. The video features F-150’s chief engineer Linda Zhang, who is seen presenting F-150 EV’s prototype to a few Ford truck owners. At first, she pulls ten double-decker freight trains (weighing 1 million pounds) for 1000 feet with this EV prototype. After that, the Ford team loaded the cargo trains with 42 modern F-150 trucks that added another 0.25 million pounds to it. The prototype still managed to drag the entire weight of 1.25 million pounds for another 1000 feet easily.
Ford is not the only company in the industry who is extolling its vehicle's towing capacity. Volkswagen, with its Touareg V10 TDI, Toyota with its Tundra, Mini, Land Rover, and Tesla, all of them had been showboats at times. However, the special thing about the EV F-150 is that it can be the first of its kind if Ford manages to introduce it before the speculated likes of Tesla and Rivian.
