Ford Ranger and F-150 gets lift kit for better off-roading

For providing better off-roading experience to the customers, Ford Motor Company now offers a lift kit for its Ranger and F-150 models. The company announced on Wednesday that Ford Performance Parts will produce dealer-installed lift kits which will be available later this fall.

The Ford lift kit is priced at $1,495 before installation and adds 2.0 inches to the ride height of the vehicle. The kit will include a two-inch front lift, for leveling the trucks’ front and rear.

The trucks will also have Ford-optimized Fox shocks, new front Coilover springs, and vehicle-specific upper front mounts to curb noise and vibration. The automaker told the upgraded feature will improve the approach angles of the vehicles by more than 20 percent.

The vision behind the upgrade is not only raising the height of mid and full-size pickup trucks of the automaker, as it also comes with heavier duty suspension parts designed for tackling tougher terrains. Currently, off-roading has become the biggest truck market trend. And it is leading the booming mid-size truck segment and also full-size truck segment.

The performance team of the firm worked with Fox to develop specific valving within the shocks to ensure that the trucks are loaded with a balance of off-road and on-road performance.

Further, the team is confident on its part and has tested the setup with high-speed off-road driving in Borrego, California and also with low-speed rock climbing in Arizona. Though it was only tested by the team yet and on behalf of that, the 2.0-inch lift is confirmed, which is quite a good job.

The added lift-kit matches the Ford with Chevy’s dealer-installed lift kits on the Silverado. And this will also boost the sales of Ford Ranger by providing a competitive advantage against the Tacoma and Gladiator.
