Ford F-150 Electric may debut in 2021

According to a recent report by Automotive News Canada, Ford Motor Company can probably launch its F-150 electric vehicle officially in 2021. The launch is considered as the followup electric crossover vehicle by the firm with Mustang-tinged styling. The report also indicated the launch of two more upcoming crossover EVs in the range by the end of 2022.

The automaker has already confirmed its plans to roll out a completely electric version of its best selling truck F-150 at Detroit Auto Show 2019 along with the plans of the launching of its hybrid version. In the spy shots, the model can be seen in the testing and development phase in Michigan. On the exterior, the model looks almost the same as the ongoing F-150 in the market, except for a place to plug in and a bit higher ride height for placing the batteries underneath the cab. Though, according to sources the shots are of very early prototypes.

In July, the company released a truck video towing over one million train cars which serve as the biggest hint about the electric F-150's future. But the company denied to further disclose the power specifications of the truck. However, the stunt of releasing the video worked positive for the firm and an internal survey shows that interest in the idea of an electric pickup jumped to 18 percent among respondents, which was just 10 percent before seeing the F-150 dragging the heavy load.

In the context of the specifications of the upcoming model, indications suggest that the electric truck may have a 12-inch infotainment screen or maybe bigger. It will be powered by a new 4.8-litre V8 with 420 PS of power, however, the spy shots do not reveal much about the looks of the truck. Further, it is reported that an updated F-150 is coming for the 2021 model year, and the electric version may feature a revised styling.
