Chevy offers option to customize 2020 Corvette’s VIN for $5K
Buyers of the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette can now personalize the car’s vehicle identification number (VIN). The company is offering this customization option for $5,000, which stands out to be more than 8 percent of the nameplate’s starting price.
The information is learned from Chevrolet’s order guide, which mentions that VIN of all Corvette Stingrays purchased through factory order can be customized. The offer doesn’t mean the option to choose the entire number but only the last five digits. Kevin Kelly, Senior Manager of Chevrolet Car and Crossover Communications at General Motors said, "If the customer orders early enough we can hold the desired VIN for them." Apart from the five digits limitation, there are also certain VINs that are not eligible to be used.
The upcoming 2020 Corvette already has the option for hefty customization. There are twelve color options for the exterior and six different color themes for the interior, six-seat belt color options, three seating arrangements, and a number of trims along with several wheel styles. In addition to all these, one can also choose the Z51 Package that includes Michelin PS4 tires, larger brakes, performance suspension, limited-slip differential, and improved cooling. There is also the Magnetic Ride Control 4.0 suspension, which is an additional option with the package.
As mentioned above, the VIN customization will cost around $5,000, which equals $1,000 per number. The option can be used to affix a memorable date or a special number in the VIN.
2020 Corvette is the company’s entry-level coaster. The pricing starts from less than $60,000 but the carmaker has revealed specific prices of different trims.
