Chevy Corvette sub-brand could eventually become a reality
What on earth are these auto giants up to these days? Volkswagen has launched a brand named Jetta, and we recently saw Ford giving its most popular and admired moniker "Mustang" to a new lineup as well. Moving ahead, we might see a new sub-brand under Chevrolet wings with the title - Corvette. We know how tough it is going to be for the devotees to see their favourite moniker being given to a whole range of new vehicles. Not the feeling you actually wanna experience, right?
Anyway, recent reports suggest that GM CEO Mary Barra hasn't yet completely ruled out the possibility of a Corvette sub-brand becoming a reality. "You have to be really careful. I’m not going to say never, but I think if General Motors were to ever do anything, we would assess it very, very carefully,” said Mary Barra in a recent interview. With that said, there are also rumors circulating that the auto-giant is already at work to bring out the sub-brand sooner than later, but we shouldn't be declaring anything before some sort of an official statement comes out.
Just in case the Corvette sub-brand is launched, the entity could easily be worth $ 12 billion. Also, once operational, the Corvette sub-brand is expected to offer a whole new lineup of vehicles including the mid-engined 2020 C8 Stingray, Corvette crossovers, Corvette EVs, and even Corvette sedans.
So, will the Corvette sub-brand happen? Well, the possibilities, for now, might look slim, but the folks at GM are surely keeping their eyes on how the Ford's Mustang sub-brand does in the market. And, that could also play a vital role in GM's final decision of rolling out the Corvette sub-brand.
