Chevrolet removes curtains off 2020 Corvette C8

After a series of teaser campaigns and leaks of numerous spy photos, Chevrolet has finally revealed the all-new Corvette C8. What’s new the nameplate offers? Well, there is no engine under the hood, as the C8 is now a mid-engine sports car taking hand-in-hand the designs of Honda NSX, Ford GT, and other such kinds.

The mid-engine car has been the dream of Zora Arkus-Duntov, also known as ‘father of Chevrolet’. The Belgian born American-designer’s dream has finally taken a tangible form after 60 years. The new C8 radically departs from the C7 when it comes to design. The mid-body placement of mill has compelled the coaster to garner a new outfit yet retaining the old signature. To start with, there are large air intakes that direct the air to the powerful V8 engine. Then, the car equips a set of LED headlights, which are hooked on the bulged out fenders.

As one can expect, the side profiles are sportier than ever. A couple of body cuts rule the surface along with highly narrow wheel wells, which houses five-spoke alloy wheels. The rear is bold and aggressive, thanks to the boomerang-shaped LED taillights and floating spoiler. The rear bumper is also wider now and integrates quad-exhausts with it.

Getting inside, the C8 welcomes you with a flat-bottomed steering wheel, which ditches the three-spoke style and gets only two branches. Behind that sits a large instrument cluster, followed by a touchscreen infotainment display at the center of the dash. The infotainment system has Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support as standard. Then there are heated and cooled seats, climate controls and a bunch of safety features. Moreover, one can choose between six different color schemes for the interior's customization.

Behind the driver’s seat rests a 6.2-liter naturally aspirated V8 engine, which churns out a maximum power of 496 PS along with a peak torque of 637 Nm. The massive torque helps the coaster to complete the century speed in less than 3 seconds. The car is open for reservations and affixes a price tag of less than $60,000.
