UAW-GM strike may delay 2020 Chevrolet Corvette production

UAW-GM strike may delay 2020 Chevrolet Corvette production

It's been more than a month now, the strike between General Motors and UAW still goes on. As reported earlier, the strike commenced on 15th September when around 49,000 employees went against the automaker in the United States. And now the firm is facing its repercussions at multiple levels including delays in production and meeting the market demand.

The production of C8 Corvette is scheduled to start at GM’s Bowling Green, Kentucky factory, the place where C7 Corvette is currently manufacturing and still have pending orders to complete. After its completion, plant retooling and production process of C8 will start.

The firm has pushed the orders back by a couple of months, which could still allow the firm to start the C8 production as per the prefixed target of late 2019 and Convertible by early 2020. Upon asking about the pending C7 production, GM said, “It’s too early to speculate on production timing impacts on any of our vehicles due to the UAW work stoppage.”

If we talk about the prevailing rumors about the 2020 Chevy Corvette, the model is expected to enter production in December this year and might be revealed in mid-July 2020. But if the strike continues for long, these rumors will be proven wrong. The longer the strike continues, the more pressure of completing the targets comes on the automaker.

It is also known that the Chevrolet planned to auction the first 2020 Corvette in January for the charity purpose. However, this also seems to be delayed now.

The Corvette debuted earlier this year and since then a lot of stuff regarding its features, packages, color options hovers all-over the internet, but still, nothing is known about the pricing of the model. So, how long the strike continues?, when the production starts?, how GM completes the deadline without hitches?, answers to these questions appear hazy right now.
