15 Chevrolet Corvettes worth $1 million trapped in rubble after a gas explosion
About 15 Chevrolet Corvettes worth about $1 million were trapped inside buildings flattened by an explosion at a Houston manufacturing warehouse. The blast resulted in immense loss of property.
The blast occurred at Houston Corvette Service, a 25-year-old restoration business that occupies four buildings. The incident happened right across the street where the Watson Grinding & Manufacturing was situated.
As per reports from CNN, owner of Corvette service, Gordon Andrus mentioned, “The charge blasted across the street, right over our buildings and then on into the neighborhoods where you’ve heard about all the houses that have been damaged,” he also added. “The rest of the street had very minor damage but my two buildings are flattened.”
However, the destruction of the cars is still in question as the process of removal of rubbles is going on. It is still unsure if all the vehicles were completely destroyed. Out of the 15 cars trapped, some of the affected Corvettes belong to the owner and the others were customer cars.
The blast resulted in the death of two Watson Grinding & Manufacturing employees. At the same time, the residents surrounding the area of the incident were displaced due to the damage to nearby properties.
Lastly, all the cars trapped in the explosion are insured, and for the car’s which can be worked upon, will be restored and repaired and is said to “make it right one way or another” by the owner of the workshop.
