Nissan Altima Review 2024
Abhishek Katariya says
Nissan Altima is a mix of power and fuel-efficiency. It was redesigned last year and the 2020 model carries forward the same bold appearance. The big honeycomb grille is outlined by Nissan’s signature V-motion design and expresses a wider stance that marks its presence on the roads. While this year’s minor upgrades include available Nissan Safety Suite in the base grade S and standard from the SR trim. Also, the Platinum trim now comes with memory function for the driver-side outside mirror, and the Piano black interior trim is standard on the SV, SL, and Platinum grades. Nissan Altima rivals against the likes of Honda Accord, Hyundai Sonata, Mazda 6 and Chevy Malibu. But, what sets apart Altima is the world’s first Variable Compression Turbo engine, that can beat the power of V6 cars while managing to deliver surprising fuel-efficiency of 4-cylinder engines. However, this engine is not available with S, SV, and SL grades, and is optional with SR and Platinum trims. Unlike this, the intelligent all-wheel-drive is available among all the grades. The starting price of Nissan Altima is capped at $24,100, and at this price, the presence of high-tech features among all the grades makes this sedan one of the most likable in its segment.

Nissan Altima Interior & Features
The upscale feel of Nissan Altima's cabin continues in 2020. With refined interiors elements and plenty of comfort and convenience features, this sedan provides you with the class-leading passenger and cargo space. In addition, in the front and rear, there is an ample headroom space of 39.2 inches and 36.9 inches. While the legroom measures 43.8 inches for first row and 35.2 inches for second-row passengers. The stylish D shaped steering wheel looks gratifying with the matte finish and inbuilt controls. Moreover, the wood finish on the dashboard enriches the feel of the cabin, and the Zero Gravity front seats deliver premium comfort while traveling for long hours. The active noise cancellation feature keeps the cabin calm and peaceful. In terms of infotainment, the floating 8-inch touchscreen display is smartly located in the lower center of the dashboard and gives the cabin a top of the line feel. However, the cabin isn’t exceptional and is let down by a dull interior material. Though, with centrally positioned controls, it gets easier for you to activate dual-zone automatic climate control, heated seats, and heated steering wheel. The standard features include Driver Assist Display, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth streaming, two USB and two C type ports.
Altima Exterior
Nissan Altima resembles a commanding appearance with the wider V-motion grille that gives front fascia a lower stance while enhancing the aggressive character of this sedan. Moreover, the muscular hood enlarges the dynamic styling with the deep cutting lines that blend seamlessly from the front to back. While the blacked-out C-pillar maximizes the floating roof design, and the 19-inch frameless wheels extends the overall presence of this sedan. Just like the bold front fascia, the back fascia of Altima looks noticeable with the boomerang designed taillights that are wrapped around to give this sedan a visible and sweeping look. The standard exterior features include intelligent auto headlights, dual power outside mirrors, and LED headlights with daytime running lights available on all grades except base grade S.
Nissan Altima Ride & Handling
Nissan Altima rides on stiff chassis, while the independent strut suspension in the front and multi-link rear suspension in the rear ensures impressive handling. In fact, the dual-pinion electric powered steering is excitingly responsive and lets you lean into a curve as it comes. Moreover, with the twin-tube front struts and monotube rear shock absorbers, this sedan remains in the balanced position and extends the driving confidence while presenting you a quieter ride.
Altima Engine & Fuel Consumption
The previously available V6 engine has been discontinued from the Nissan Altima’s lineup. Now, all the grades of this sedan are powered by the standard 2.5-liter DIG 4-cylinder engine that can churn out the maximum power of 188 hp at 6,000 rpm and torque of 180 lb-ft at 3,600 rpm. This engine is matched with the Xtronic Continuously Variable Transmission and can get from 0–60 mph in 7.7 seconds. Moreover, Nissan has kept the world’s first Variable Compression Turbo engine available in SR and Platinum grades. This 2.0-liter VC turbo engine can produce a maximum power of 248hp at 5,600 rpm and torque of 273 lb-ft at 4,000 rpm.
Nissan Altima Braking & Safety
The braking power of Nissan Altima relies upon vented disc brakes in the front wheel and solid disc brakes in the rear wheels. And, to further enable the maximum stopping power without compromising with the safety, Altima comes with standard Antilock Braking System and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution. With all these in synchrony, this sedan can come from 70 mph to 0 in 170 ft. Moreover, the standard active and passive features include Brake Assist, Intelligent Forward Collision Warning, Active Brake Limited Slip, Active Ride Control, and six airbags.
Altima Verdict
Nissan Altima is a lighter and responsive mid-size sedan. It is a genuine competitor against Hyundai Sonata, Chevy Malibu, and Honda Accord. But, at some points, Altima lacks the rich interior and sport-tuned handling of Accord. While it races ahead of Hyundai Sonata in terms of driver assistance features and all-wheel-drive architecture.
