The infotainment system comes as standard with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity and can be accessed through a very ergonomically placed, center-mounted touchscreen infotainment system.

The company also offers a convenience package which comes equipped with a compass display, improved driver information display, keyless entry and heated front seats equipped with a 6-way power adjustable feature also offered on the driver’s side. The 2020 Chevrolet Sonic makes for a great starter car as the company also offers a bare-bones LS sedan variant. However, even this model does not skimp when it comes to the infotainment system and features are 7-inch Bluetooth touchscreen unit which also comes with two USB ports and a 4 speaker sound system.

2019 Chevrolet Sonic offered updated styling as compared to its main competitor in the segment which would be the outgoing model of Ford Fiesta. At the front, the company offers an option of a blacked-out bow tie logo which sits over a large air dam. The headlight cluster constitutes of a projector headlamp and LED DRLs which are positioned over a sculpted fog lamp enclosure. The feature that stands out the most on the side is the rear door handle which is reminiscent of that found in the Chevrolet Spark. Also on offer are two additional bodywork color schemes which are exclusive for the outgoing Chevrolet Sonic model.

The RS variant of the 2020 Chevrolet Sonic upgrades the car’s LT trim to include 16-inch aluminum wheels, RS logos on the grille and LED daytime running lights. The top-of-the-line ‘Premier’ model features 17-inch wheels and depending on the variant picked Chevrolet Sonic’s ride varies from comfortable to sporty and responsive. Prices for the standard Chevrolet Sonic sedan start from $17,595 and the hatchback prices start from $20,295 depending on the trim.

Under the hood, we find a 1.4-liter Turbo EcoTech 4 cylinder engine which produces 138 bhp of power at 4900 rpm and 148 lb-ft of torque at 1850 rpm. The car is offered in front-wheel-drive setup only and the powerplant comes mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission as standard. According to EPA estimates, Chevrolet Sonic can offer up to 34 mpg of fuel economy in highway conditions which dropdown to 26 mpg when driving around the city. The car also comes equipped with a 12.2-gallon fuel tank.

The 2020 Chevrolet Sonic is the only car in the segment to offer 10 airbags as standard across all of its variants. Along with the segment-first safety features, the 2020 Chevrolet Sonic also offers a wide range of driver assistance and advanced safety features which are designed to keep passengers protected at all times. This includes a rearview camera that also features dynamic guidelines which assist in parking maneuvers. Also on offer are optional forward collision alert, rear parking assist, and lane departure warning features. The 2020 Chevrolet Sonic has not yet been crash-tested by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration or the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The 2019 model, however, achieved a five-star rating by the NHTSA and also fared fairly well in tests conducted by IIHS and we expect the upcoming model to do the same.

Ford is eliminating most of its small car models like other mainstream manufacturers, who are only using compact and hatchback body types for their electrified or battery-only offerings. Chevrolet Sonic is one of the last remaining competitively priced gas-guzzling compact sedan which not only appears to the convenience of owning an ICE car but also allows the passengers to sit comfortably inside a familiar environment which comes loaded with features at a reasonable price.
