Chevrolet Blazer

The 2019 Chevrolet Blazer is Chevy’s attempt at bringing a sporty mid-size SUV to its clientele. The company reintroduced its Blazer nameplate with an all-new model which shares its underpinnings with the comparatively more luxurious compact Cadillac XT5 and the three-row GMC Acadia SUVs. The 2019 Chevrolet Blazer, however, is not a badge-engineered job as it comes with sporty characteristics and wider dimensions. Speaking of sporty characteristics, the interior of the car is inspired by the company’s Camaro sportscar while focusing on maximizing the cabin space and optimizing the interior layout. The Chevy Blazer nameplate was renowned for its off-roading capabilities but the 2019 revival also focuses on design and aesthetics. The new Blazer sits between the company’s Equinox and the three-row Transverse SUV, probably as a result of the company attempting to capitalize on the popularity of the utility vehicle segment.

Stepping inside the cabin we find an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system which comes compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard. There is extensive use of soft to touch plastic across the cabin which is painted in a two-tone color scheme. The 2019 Chevrolet Blazer also get a very intuitive climate control system, ambient interior lighting, heated rear seats, and heated and ventilated front seats as standard across all models. Other standard features include a 120-volt outlet, 8-speaker Bose audio system, wireless charging for phones, 4G-LTE powered mobile hotspot Wi-Fi, built-in navigation and a pair of USB ports located at the front as well as behind the center console. The more attractive cabin trims featuring pleasing materials and leather accents are only available on the more expensive models.

Chevy’s all-new SUV is offered in three trim levels starting from the standard ‘Pleasure’ trim which features a price tag starting at $32,300 followed by the ‘RS’ variant with prices starting from $40,600 and finally the top of the line ‘Premier’ model with prices starting at $42,700. The standard Blazer variant is offered with a 2.5-liter motor capable of producing 193 BHP of power and 188 lb-ft of torque. More powerful 3.6-liter v6 engine is also offered as an optional extra on the base model and only comes standard in the higher ‘RS’ and ‘Premier’ models. The more powerful 3.6-liter v6 engine produces 308 BHP of power and 270 lb-ft of torque. Both motors come mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission which is offered with overdrive in the 2.5-liter model. According to EPA estimates, the 2.5-liter 4 cylinder engine is capable of offering 22 mpg of fuel economy in the city which further increases to 27 mpg in case of highway driving. The more powerful v6 engine offers 20mpg of EPA estimated fuel economy in the city and 26 mpg for highway driving. Chevrolet offers an optional all-wheel-drive system across all 2019 blazer models.

As of yet, the 2019 Chevrolet Blazer has not been tested by either the National Traffic Safety administration or for that matter by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The 2019 Chevrolet Blazer comes equipped with safety features like forward collision warning, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and automated emergency braking as standard across all models. More advanced driver assistance technology is limited to the pricier ‘RS’ and ‘Premier” variants.
