Upcoming Ford Focus RS may get a hybrid engine
Ford might introduce a new, hybrid Ford Focus RS that will be available over the markets of Europe, as per reports of Car magazine. While the Ford Focus continues to sell across many markets around the world, however, the car is not available for sale in the US market due to tight emission regulations.
The upcoming variant of the Focus RS, is believed to be developed over a hybrid framework, consisting of a separate battery engine along with the traditional fuel engine. The vehicle is suspected of carrying a 2.3L inline-four cylinder turbocharged, similar to its predecessors and will be used alongside an electric motor to generate more power. The electric motor offered in the RS is suspected to provide more propel to the car’s rear wheels.
The fourth-generation of the famous vehicle is said to have an all-wheel-drive configuration, generating maximum power of around 400 hp. The new offering by Ford is also suspected to feature a “Boost” mode for an enhanced increase in the acceleration of the car, as per speculations by the Car Magazine.
However, the fan base of Ford expects the upcoming RS to feature a gasoline engine variant as well. Due to the automaker’s offering of a gasoline and diesel engines on its other market offering, an ST version of the Focus is expected.
Recently, the automaker has also revealed an ST version of the Focus which runs on a 2.3-litre turbo-four engine, derived from the mustang. The engine tends to provide a maximum power of 276 hp and generates a peak torque of up to 420 Nm and comes mated with automatic transmission.
One can assume the new Focus RS to be a 2021 model year and expect a facelifting of the upcoming car, sometime in the upcoming year.
