Subaru announces prices for 2020 Outback model range

Subaru has announced pricing details of its new Outback family, which is going to hit the markets in Autumn. The model range comprises of seven trims, in which, the two base variants will be retailed under $30,000. To be specific, the entry-level unit is priced at $27,655, which is only $335 increment over the last year’s base model. Whereas, the next model in the lineup gets a price tag of $29,905.

The price hike is not only for useless fancies. Subaru has made a slew of features standard across the range. All the seven Outbacks now equips LED headlights, raised roof rails, rear-vision camera, Subaru's EyeSight system, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, 18-inch alloy wheels, high-beam assist and most importantly, an all-wheel-drive layout. The model range starts with a standard Outback, followed by Premium, Limited, Touring, Onyx XT, Limited XT, and Touring XT. The Limited trim will be sold for $34,465 and will offer leather seats, standard blind-spot monitoring, reverse automated emergency braking, a Harman/Kardon stereo system, and 19-inch wheels. Whereas, the top-end Touring variant has sound-insulated windows, a facial recognition system, and a CD player as well. Moreover, every Outback will also have enhanced sound deadening feature.

Subaru says that it has optimized the two-year-old Subaru Global Platform for the Outback. It claims that the structure is now “70-percent stiffer in both torsional and front-suspension rigidity and 100 percent stiffer in both front lateral flexural and rear subframe rigidity compared to the previous Outback’s platform.” The head and legroom have also been increased in every Outback.

Under the hood, the Outback gets either a 2.4-liter or a 2.5-liter turbocharged BOXER engine. The former delivers a maximum power of 260 hp and a peak torque of 277 lb-ft, while the figure rests detuned at 182 hp and 176 lb-ft for the latter mill.
