Genesis teases its upcoming lineup at GV80’s debut event
Genesis teased its upcoming lineup at the debut event of GV80. The Chief Design Officer Luc Donckerwolke explained the origins of their new design comprising quad lights and crest grille. The forthcoming models are said to be a six-vehicle lineup, amongst a sporty coupe and small hatchback.
The shadowy image displayed at the debut event appears to be the GV80, GV70, G90, and G80. Although the G90 and GV80 have been previewed, a revised version of the G80 is expected to be amongst the six cars.
The sixth car previewed during the debut event resembles the styling of a small three-door hatchback, sharing a side profile similar to an EV showcased at the 2019 New York Auto Show. The two-seater concept car is powered by a 350 kW, fast-charging battery and could cover 322-kilometre range.
The G90 and GV80, which are the latest offerings from Genesis, share a similar styling cue with a large grille and the winged Genesis logo. The new design language from Genesis features a double-strip horizontal light on each side of the grille along with squared-off LED projectors.
The debut version of the GV80 features a 3.0-litre turbodiesel engine, generating power of a maximum 278 hp and peak torque of 588 Nm while the G90 is offered in two trim options, a 3.3-litre twin-turbo V-6 and 5.0-litre V-8 with revised tuning.
Interestingly, Donckerwolke avoided the details of the images but commented, “I know that you would like to see more light on this photo, but for now, we will keep the mystery.”
Lastly, the automaker assures its user base to release all the six different models by 2021.
