2020 Honda Civic Type R Limited Edition makes its way to Europe
Honda Civic Type R, the ultimate performance car, is no muggle in the world of mid-size performance cars. The 2020 Civic Type R Sport Line, along with the more exciting Limited Edition variant, has now made its way in the European market. However, the hot hatch no longer has the massive wing at the rear and instead, works with a spoiler attached at the top of the tailgate section.
The 2020 Honda Civic Type R as unveiled first at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show and has made its way in many countries. This limited edition variant will be restricted to just 100 units in Europe. According to the automaker itself, the limited edition model is defined as the purest Type R we have ever seen. It is built ground up to be a track machine and that’s where it belongs.
The Honda Civic Type R Limited Edition is 47 kilograms lighter than the standard CTR, which will make a huge difference in the performance. The car rides on 20-inch BBS alloy wheels, which are lightweight as well. The wheels now get Michelin Cup 2 tires, which increases the feedback and control for the drivers.
Honda has gone on to make radical changes in the Type R Limited Edition to ensure that it is made for the track. The rear wipers are no longer in place. The AC unit inside the cabin, along with the head infotainment unit, has been taken away in the name of weight-saving. The cabin gets a dual-tone color combo of black and red.
However, the Japanese auto giant did not compromise on the safety at all. The limited-edition model gets Honda Sensing and driver’s assistance, forward collision warning, collision mitigation braking system, adaptive cruise control, and lane departure warning.
Under the hood of this track-focused Honda Civic Type R Limited Edition is a 2.0-liter turbocharged (VTEC), 4-cylinder engine that can pump out 320 PS of power at 6,500 RPM, along with a peak torque of 400 Nm, which comes in at around 2,500 - 4,500 RPM.
The pricing for the Civic Type R Limited Edition has not been revealed yet and it is slated to launch during the summer of 2020. The US market will also get the limited edition model, but the unit allocated will be 600. However, it is not slated to launch here before 2021.
