BMW X5 has constantly presented itself to be the perfect combination of performance utility and practicality and the 2019 model is not any different from its renowned predecessors. In its 2019 installment, the performance SUV or as BMW likes to call it, ‘Sports Activity Vehicle’ not only offers luxury and comfort but also impressive driving dynamics. The latest model has been tweaked to offer improved driving dynamics and rivals the like of the all-new 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLC and Audi Q7.

The 2019 BMW X5 is an all-new model from the ground up and the lineup features two variants. The interior of the 2019 BMW X5 is quite generous in terms of space as both second and first row can accommodate adults comfortably but the third row is ideally suited for children. There is extensive use of pleasing materials and an abundance of charging points spread across the cabin. BMW offers power-adjustable front seats with memory feature for the driver as standard along with other standard features like a panoramic sunroof, power-adjustable steering column, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats, customizable ambient lighting, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and power rear liftgate.

As optional extras, customers can also so add-on features like remote start, acoustic glass, massaging seats, sift close doors, heated front armrest and steering wheels and a leather dashboard. We recommend shelling out an additional $4200 for or BMW's optional Bower’s and Wilkins audio system that comes with diamond domed tweeters. The cabin also comes with two 12.3-inch displays which take on the touchscreen infotainment system duties and are powered by BMW’s iDrive software. BMW offers Apple CarPlay as standard but after the first year, customers would have to pay a fee for an annual subscription.

The prices for the base model BMW X5 xDRIVE40i start from $60,700 and the car is powered by 3-liter TwinPower Turbo inline 6-cylinder engine which produces 335 BHP of power and 330 lb-ft of torque. The powerplant comes mated to 18-speed Steptronic automatic transmission with sport and manual shift modes and the variant comes equipped with BMW’s all-wheel-drive technology. This model gets a 0 to 60 mph acceleration time of 5.3 seconds and the top speed is limited to 130 mph.

The top and X5 xDrive50i variant is offered with prices starting from $75,750 and features a much larger 4.4-liter TwinPower Turbo V8 engine which produces 456 BHP of power and 479 lb-ft of torque. The engine comes mated to the same 8-Speed Steptronic automatic transmission as the base model but gets a 0 to 60 mph acceleration time of 4.6 seconds, however, the top speed is also limited to 130 mph like that in the xDRIVE40i. According to BMW, the base model is capable of offering a combined fuel economy of 22 mpg for the automatic transmission models whereas the xDRIVE50i model gets a combined fuel economy estimate of 19 mpg for the same automatic model.

2019 BMW X5 has been selected as the top safety pick+ by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety but in the crash tests performed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the SUV only managed to secure a four-star rating. BMW offers standard safety and driver assistance features like automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, and blind-spot monitoring with rear-cross traffic alert as standard across all variants.
