VinFast might enter the US in 2021
Vietnam's automobile market isn't too big, and that is one of the major reasons behind the country's first-ever automaker VinFast's decision of entering the US market for a much more profitable and extensive business opportunity. And, the decision might just prove to be groundbreaking for VinFast as the Vietnamese automaker was able to create quite a stir in the automobile space following the unveiling of its sensuous sedan and SUV models at the 2018 Paris Motor Show.
Called the LUX A 2.0 and LUX SA 2.0, both the sedan and SUV by VinFast look potent enough to attract customers, especially because of their designs languages that come from the house of Pininfarina. If and when VinFast goes on to start selling its cars in the US, it will require a good $2 billion of investment. Pham Nhat Vuong, who owns 49% in VinFast, wants to up the game and start offering VinFast cars in the US in 2021.
"Our ultimate goal is to create an international brand. It will be a very difficult road and we will have to put in a lot of effort. But there’s only one road ahead", said Vuong. Vietnam's auto market is rather too small and isn't profitable enough for VinFast if the company keeps selling its cars in the country itself. And, that's why the automaker wants to conquer other territories around the world, added Vuong.
Moving on, considering the fact that VinFast is an unknown identity in the US, the brand is certain to face difficulty in promoting itself in the market. Also, since the demand for EVs is on the rise and VinFast's first-ever EV is due to be out by the end of 2020, VinFast might want to enter the US market following the launch of its EV.
