The Psuedo Muscle; 900hp electric Mustang revealed at SEMA 2019
The Harleys and Mustangs were like a backbone of the American culture, and this was more or less because of their loud exhausts and freakishly powerful engines. We were pretty shaken when Harley launched the Livewire, and now when the Blue Oval removed the curtain on its lithium-powered Mustang, we couldn’t help but accept the future with our bare hands.
We could sulk or we could embrace the fact that these changes are much-needed, and this why we need to look on the brighter side of this Mustang too. Well, the brighter side is obviously not the V8 but rather a Phi-powered electric motor which produces 900hp of power and that too from the moment you step on that pedal.
To entice the enthusiasts, Ford equipped this Mustang with a six-speed manual transmission. Why do we need manual transmissions in an electric motor? Anyway, the powerhouse for this Mustang is an 800-volt Webasto battery system that powers a dual-core electric motor with dual power inverters.
When Blue Oval partnered with Webasto, they wanted to keep this vehicle light and agile as the only problem with pony cars is their unstable tail and they did this with equipping this pony with just a single motor.
Let’s just not get disheartened about that exhaust note, we have six-piston Brembo brakes which can be spotted in a GT350 and strut tower brace coupled with Ford Performance Track Handling package making it a smoldering iron in corners, flexible and tensile.
This is no Prius and folks at Blue Oval did everything to keep it close to the Mustang heritage and with a climatic emergency declared, this might a good time we decided to tie our hands and find responsibility tucked inside petrolhead. Well, Greta must find herself in a sweet spot as the largest and one of the oldest car manufacturers are now heavily investing in the EV sector.
