Nissan starts accepting orders for its GT-R50
Nissan has started accepting orders for its limited-run model GT-R50 worldwide. Previously, the vehicle was showcased as a prototype, designed by Italdesign as Nissan’s first customer vehicle for 2020.
The Italdesign Nissan GT-R50 marks the 50th anniversaries of GT-R in 2019 and Italdesign in 2018. The power bulge on the hood with its samurai blade design is what propelled the company to roll it into a frontline production model. The car first appeared as a showcase model in December 2019.
“Our customers have relished the personalized experience provided by Italdesign, who have a long tradition in the exclusive field of ultra-rare, bespoke high-performance vehicles,” Bob Laishley, global sports car program director at Nissan, said. He also added, "Their experience with the GT-R50 has been incredible, and I can say first-hand that each car will certainly be a standalone masterpiece.”
The GT-R50 carries a 3.8 litres V6 VR38DETT engine which is hand-assembled and crafted by NISMO. The V6 engine produces a maximum power of 710 hp and peak torque of up to 780 Nm. Besides, it also sports GT3 turbochargers, a mid-mounted front-engine, optimized ignition, and large intercoolers.
Transmission in the car is handled by a rear-mounted six-speed dual-clutch that comes mated with the ATTESA-TS all-wheel-drive system. Also, R50 features revised Bilstein suspension damping system and upgraded the Brembo braking system to help the user in the efficient handling of the car.
While there are no details available on the interior of the car, customers will be able to select the color combinations they desire for the production version. Moreover, the interior colors and packages can be customized as per the user.
The vehicle claims to be the automaker's most expensive offering, and its limited numbers assure GT-R50’s place in the garages of avid car collectors. Depending on the region, clients can expect the delivery of their vehicles between late 2020 and the end of 2021.
It carries a price tag of around USD 1,101,500 (990,000 euros) which is five times more than its design inspiration, GT-R Nismo.
