New Nissan Sentra might come without a manual gearbox
A few months back, Nissan unleashed the next-gen Sylphy, which is the Chinese version of the firm’s Sentra sedan. And now the firm is planning to launch the model in the US soon. The camouflaged Sentra with a manual gearbox was spotted in the region in August, while the latest report says that the carmaker is lifting the manual stick for the US market.
The new Sentra will be powered by a solitary powertrain in the form of a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder internal combustion engine in place of the ongoing 1.8-litre naturally-aspirated unit. The new engine configuration will be capable to churn out more power i.e., 149 PS and 196 Nm of peak torque as compared to 1.8-litre naturally-aspirated motor that produces 124 PS of maximum power and a peak torque of 169 Nm. Power will be delivered via continuously variable transmission as there would be no manual gearbox.
The revealed engine specs are according to the early order guide issued by the firm which may not be the complete story. The Japanese automaker might add more powertrains and gearboxes to the range in the future.
Besides powertrain, the upcoming Sentra will also be loaded with the Nissan Safety Shield 360 which incorporates features like automatic emergency braking, blind-spot warning, auto high beams, and more.
Irrespective of the other optional features and packages, the safety suite will be standard across the range. Moreover, the rear suspension from a torsion beam will be replaced by a multilink rear suspension setup.
So, this is what we know so far. The official preview is expected at the upcoming Los Angeles Auto Show in the country. Stay tuned to Zigwheels USA for more information about the all-new Nissan Sentra.
