Ford reveals specs of its new 7.3-liter V8 mill; 430 hp and 475 lb-ft
Ford has finally given the specs of its new powerful naturally aspirated 7.3-liter pushrod gasoline V-8 engine. The mill was revealed in the early 2019 and was fitted in the company’s all-new Super Duty ute. The US-based company did not reveal the output figures of the engines at the time of its revelation but has now offered enough details to quench us. The new machine has been claimed to produce a maximum power of 430 hp and a whopping maximum torque of 475 lb-ft.
The 7.3-liter V8 mill will be sold in two versions. The first one will be offered as an optional unit with the new Super Duty F-250 and F-350. It will also be introduced for the Super Duty lineup and will take its slot along with the 6.2-liter gas V-8 and the new 6.7-liter Power Stroke diesel V-8. On the other hand, the second variant of the engine will be offered as standard powertrain in F-450, F-550, F-600, F-650, and F-750. It will also be a standard unit in the stripped chassis models of F-53, and F-59.
The new 7.3-liter V8 engine will also get the pairing of a new 10-speed automatic transmission. The new gearbox has the same dimension as the outgoing six-speed auto transmission but is revamped almost completely to handle more stress. Except for the F-650 and the F-750, all other variants will get this new transmission.
Ford has not revealed the towing capacity of this new 7.3-liter V8 beast but assured that things will get clear in the near future.
