Ford Mustang-Inspired electric SUV to be revealed soon

Ford is planning to come up with a new all-electric SUV inspired by the styling trims of the popular Mustang. The long-awaited model is expected to roll-out in late 2020 and before that, we can see the camouflaged vehicle teased by the automaker on a social media platform.

So far, it is known that the vehicle will be offered in different battery and drive versions. The battery options include the extended and standard battery. When equipped with extended battery and rear-wheel drive, the electric car EPA (range and efficiency) is measured as 483 kilometres. The lower battery version features the less range and capacity and also the high affordability.

According to a European press release, the electric vehicle can mark the range of up to 600 kilometres under the WLTP test cycle. The automaker termed it as the performance SUV so it is obvious to have a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system which means one electric motor for one axle.

The automaker estimated that at a 150-kW fast charger, the SUV will add 47 miles of range in 10 minutes. It takes 45 minutes to get a charge from 10% to 80%. Ford has developed a 12,000-strong charging station network, called the FordPass Charging Network for the owners of its electric vehicles. And, planned to continue the work with charging station installers to have more chargers to the Network. 

The market is expecting to have the preview in the next month or at the year’s Los Angeles Auto Show but the firm has not disclosed anything in this context. 

About the launch of Mustang-inspired SUV, it is scheduled for next year just in time for the 2021 model year, which means the deliveries will start after the first half of 2020.
