Ford Mustang-based electric vehicle teased, to preview in November
As we already know that the Ford is planning to come up with a new all-electric SUV inspired by the styling trims of the popular Mustang. The camouflaged vehicle was teased by the automaker on a social media platform a few days back. And now the firm posted a new video-clip which reveals a full-size clay appearance of the upcoming model with a line sketch. The influence of Mustang is clearly seen in the teaser.
The clip also confirms the fact that the model is set for the official preview on November 11. Though the firm has been slow to enter into the electric vehicle segment, the teaser shows that it would be certainly a powerful entry in the crossover market.
According to a European press release, the electric vehicle has a range of up to 600 kilometres under the WLTP test cycle. The automaker termed it as the performance SUV, so it is obvious to have a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system which means one electric motor for one axle.
The automaker estimated that at a 150-kW fast charger, the SUV will add 47 miles of range in 10 minutes. It takes 45 minutes to get a charge from 10% to 80%. Ford has developed a 12,000-strong charging station network, called the FordPass Charging Network for the owners of its electric vehicles. And, planned to continue the work with charging station installers to have more chargers to the Network.
For the name, the firm has not stated any particular title, just mentioned it as Mustang-based during the interviews. But as per the sources, it may be “Mach-E” and not likely any older nameplate such as Maverick or Falcon. Stay tuned to Zigwheels USA for more updates on the title, pricing, and specifications of the model.
