2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R revealed, price starts at $74,530
Ford has come up with an all-new Mustang Shelby GT350R with the upgraded steering geometry. The new Mustang features revised front steering knuckle to enhance the caster trail and boosts steering confidence and exactness.
The automaker has undergone the process of changing GT350 to GT350R with a vision to make it lightweight and to improve its livability for 2020. Though it may be seen as tweaking the Shelby in its sixth model year.
To deal with the problem of weight, the rear seat of the R has been removed and also super-light carbon fiber wheels are adapted. This has reduced the significant weight of around 88 pounds. Also, it can be said that the Ford engineers have worked so well to make the vehicle less affected by ruts and imperfections of the road surface by upgrading the suspension and brake performance.
As per the company’s official, the earlier cross-drilled brake rotors are replaced by solid rotors as they perform better on roads and also improve the pad life. The new Shelby GT350R comes with the half-inch wider Carbon Revolution wheels which are Australia-made. It is also equipped with more vigorous Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 rubber which is 10 mm wider at each corner as compared to GT350.
The GT350R engine bay gets the same 5.2-litre flat-plane-crank V-8 unit paired with a six-speed manual transmission which produces 526 PS of power.
The new Mustang Shelby GT350R price starts at $74,530, which means $5000 above the ongoing model. On the sales front, Ford mentioned that the Mustang Bullitt and GT350 recorded a 7 percent increase in the third quarter of 2019.
So, let's sit back and observe the performance of GT350R on the sales graph and stay tuned to Zigwheels USA for further insights.
