Volkswagen presented its final model of the Beetle legacy as the new 2019 Beetle Convertible with several new features and introductions like the standardisation of rear cross traffic alert and Blind spot monitoring. The 2019 Beetle comes in two models, the Final Edition SE and Final Edition SEL and also offers two special edition exterior shades - Safari Uni and Stonewashed Blue Metallic. But the subcompact Volkswagen is still available in its original colors of Tornado Red, Habanero Orange Metallic, Platinum Grey and White Silver Metallic, Pure White, Silk Blue Metallic and Deep Black Pearl. The car lacks a bit in sportiness and fuel economy but offers an overall smooth drive with user-friendly technology features. The prices of all the four available models, S, SE (Final Ed.), SEL (Final Ed.) and SE, start from $25,995, $27,295, $29,995 and $28,395 respectively.

Volkswagen Beetle Convertible Interior & Features
The Beetle can seat up to 4 people in both convertible and coupe modes. The rear seats are not as spacious and comfortable as the front, hence allowing only non-adults, but still provides more room than its rivals. The interior is furnished with seats of leather having diamond-stitched design, a multi-function steering wheel wrapped with leather, interior ambient lighting customization facility, glovebox inspired by Käferfach heritage and Retro-modern gauges. The Beetle offers 15 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats and with those seats folded it can create about 30 cubic feet in total. However, the convertible allows a room of 7.1 cubic feet only. The basic infotainment attributes include a 5-inch touch screen MIB II system, an audio system with 8 speakers, audio streaming with Bluetooth technology for supported devices and a USB port. Other features include Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Fender Audio System, SiriusXM All Access, VW Car-Net services, Sunroof rain notification and more.
Beetle Convertible Exterior
The already iconic Beetle exterior architecture is outlined with even more sleek elements like the Bi-Xenon headlights, Daytime Running LED Lights, Sport styled bumpers, 17 and 18 inches alloy wheels, Rear spoiler and panoramic sunroof with power tilting and sliding. The new Beetle also offers Black mirror caps and Nickname badging.

The Beetle offers a smoother and more comfortable ride in both city roads and highways than its rivals namely, the Fiat 500 and the Mini Cooper. The relaxed drive is made possible by its confident and composed handling along with its quiet interior but the car fails to beat competitors on grounds of athleticism.
Beetle Convertible Engine & Fuel Consumption
The Beetle Convertible is packed with a 2.0 litre Turbocharged Stratified Injection (TSI) engine wedded to a 6-speed automatic transmission which allows it to achieve a torque of 249 Nm at a power of 174 horsepower. The engine has an EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) - estimated mileage of 33 mpg on the highway and 26 mpg in the city which is slightly less than its rivals. The transmission also comes with a Sport and Tiptronic mode which can be shifted to manually. The Sport mode lets you enjoy more speed whereas the Tiptronic allows more control. However, the slow shifting of gears makes the convertible less athletic than its brother, the Volkswagen Golf.
Volkswagen Beetle Convertible Braking & Safety
The Volkswagen passes the Moderate Overlap Front, Side Impact, Rear Crash Protection and Roof Strength tests of the IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) Safety Ratings with good scores but doesn’t perform that well in the Small Overlap Front Driver test. Under the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) Safety Ratings the car obtains a score of 4 out of 5 in both the Frontal Crash and Rollover tests. The safety features offered by the 2019 Beetle Convertible include driver airbags, front head airbag, passenger airbags, front side airbag, rear head airbag, electronic stability control, 4-wheel disc brakes, 4-wheel ABS, etc.

The Beetle might not stand amongst the favourite subcompact cars of the year but it is still not a bad choice for buyers.
