Ever since its launch, the Kia Stinger has emerged as a surprisingly sporty yet affordable car. It takes on rivals much more established than itself like the BMW 3 Series in areas like the handling and beats them in practicality and equipment. The Stinger now comes with even more standard equipment like leather upholstery, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, 7” touchscreen infotainment with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and a rear-view camera. The range starts from $33090 and includes 4 trims. The engine in the base model is a 2L 4 cylinder turbocharged mated to an 8-speed automatic producing 255 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. The drive goes to the rear while AWD is an optional extra. All other trims come with a 3.3L twin-turbo V6 making 365 hp and 376 lb-ft of torque. These also get AWD as standard with a limited-slip differential, Brembo brakes, launch control and electronic dampers on the top-spec models.

Kia Stinger is a compact luxury car offered under a decent price bracket. It has its roots to the Kia GT Concept and the Kia GT4 Stinger from the 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show and the 2014 North American International Auto Show, respectively. To your surprise, the Stinger’s design is actually inspired by the Coca-Cola bottle. However, the car is more than that. And the entire story starts with its outfit.
Everything about the exterior is so pleasing that it hardly leaves any space for complaint. There is a honeycomb signature grille dominating the front fiasco, which is outlined with chrome. This is further flanked by roughly triangular-shaped LED headlights on above and air inlets at below. The LED units intrude considerably into the quarter panel and the foglamp housings and get chrome plates. There is again a lower grille, which again gets shiny chromes borders. The bonnet and the side profiles offer a sporty feel and all these finally brings us to the rear. The first thing that demands every attention is the quad exhaust pipe integrated within the bold bumper. Moving up, there is a single and long LED taillights housing, which extends even on to the side profiles. The branch-like structure of the five-spoked alloy wheels flaunts aggressiveness, which is further boosted by compact wheel wells.
In the USA, the Stinger is available in a total of six variants. The list includes 2.0L, Premium, GT, GTS, GT1, and GT2. The 2.0L and the GT trim gets 7-inch touchscreen infotainment panel, while the rest four gets 8-inch units as standard. All the variants get Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support along with 6, 9, or 15 speaker systems. USB jack, power outlets, and Bluetooth are also available as standard features across the model range. For driver’s and passenger’s comfort, there is dual-zone temperature control along with multiple AC vents. Only the top-end GT2 variant gets Nappa leather seat trim, while rest of the units have standard leather coverings for the seat. The seats are also heated, ventilated and the rear ones are foldable so that one can have extra cargo space.
A 2.0 liter 4-Cylinder turbocharged engine makes its way under the hood of 2.0L, and Premium trim. Whereas the other four are powered by a 3.3-liter V6 twin-turbocharged mill. The first units churn out a maximum power of 255 hp along with a peak torque of 260 Nm. On the other hand, the second machine outputs a maximum power of 365 hp and a maximum torque of 376 Nm. All the mills are mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission and the buyer can choose the all-wheel-drive layout for their Stinger.
Kia Stinger also doesn’t disappoint a bit when it comes to providing a robust safety module. Brembo brakes along with the assistance of Anti-lock Braking System is standard. The suspension unit is composed of multi-link and high-speed dampers. The coaster also gets dual-front advanced airbags and dual front seat mounted airbags as well.
