XC40 Recharge is Volvo’s first-ever mass-market EV

After all the years of ugly looking and incompetent electric vehicles, the global automobile industry is finally catching up with its internal combustion engine counterparts as newer models come out with stylish design philosophies and single-charge ranges that can give the gasoline- and diesel-powered mills a run for their own money. And, with more and more automakers launching their EVs, it's now Volvo that has, at last, introduced its first-ever mass-market all-electric car in the form of Volvo XC40 Recharge.

Starting with the looks, the Volvo XC40 Recharge boasts an appearance similar to the XC40 that is powered by an internal combustion engine, albeit with a few changes here and there. The primary front grille is now covered by a single trim as there is no need for air-intake anymore. The lower fascia, mirror caps, and roof are black for providing the compact crossover with a contrasting and alluring look. While the space under the hood of the crossover is occupied by the engine in the ICE model, the Volvo XC40 Recharge, on the other hand, features cargo over there. Also, Sage Green is the new finish that the crossover can be had in. On the inside, the Volvo CX40 Recharge comes equipped with a touchscreen infotainment system that supports Google Assistant, Google Maps, and Google Play Store.

Powering the Volvo XC40 Recharge is an all-electric powertrain that comprises of a 78 kWh battery pack alongside the two electric motors that propel the front and the rear axle, respectively. The power figures read 408 hp of maximum power and a peak torque of 660 Nm.

The compact crossover is claimed to sport a range of 249 miles (400 kilometres) on a single charge. And, you can charge the battery up to 80% in just 40 minutes using the fast charger. For a fun-filled driving experience, the Volvo XC40 Recharge gets an all-wheel-drive system as well.
