Volkswagen teases next-gen Caddy via official sketches
Volkswagen has teased the arrival of the next-generation of Caddy via official sketches. The A-segment van-based model will make its global debut in February, followed by sales in another half of 2020.
Previously, the company released yellow teaser images for their forthcoming offering. The present sketches which mark the fifth-generation of Caddy, come covered in silver with a name tag of Caddy Cargo to define the van version.
Volkswagen claimed the fifth-generation car to be very different from its predecessors, with no screw being “left untouched.” Interestingly, the vehicle will be available in two wheelbases, namely front-wheel drive, and 4Motion all-wheel-drive, based on a new platform with an emphasis on targeting buyers to use the car privately and commercially.
Outside, the new Caddy resembles a more sporty styling with the aerodynamical roofline and a more extensive set of wheels. With a new honeycomb mesh design at the lower bumper, the car features LED headlights connected to the grille for enhanced night visibility. The rear end of the vehicle gets a pair of upright, slim LED taillights.
The Caddy will reportedly ride on the VW Group’s MQB platform, enabling a vast range of powertrains. The list of powertrain options is said to include the presence of four-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines. The transmission might be a dual-clutch automatic or manual transmissions.
Inside, the vehicle might feature new driver assistance systems with functionality to connect to the Internet. Since Volkswagen claims its car to be completely different, the upcoming Caddy might not carry any infotainment features from its predecessor and get the latest range of in-car tech, offering real-time information while driving.
Lastly, the automaker will be releasing additional details about the next-generation Caddy in the coming weeks. Caddy will mark as one amongst the 34 new models and variants; the German automaker plans to release in 2020.
