Nissan to cut the diesel engine and Single Cab version from refreshed Titan lineup
The Japanese multinational automobile manufacturer, Nissan is planning to give a refreshment to the Titan and Titan XD. The company will axe the Cummins-sourced 5.0-litre V8 turbodiesel engine and the carmaker will also drop the pickup’s single-cab body style versions.
The refreshed Titan had been already spied from which one will get a view of the new car. It will get reprofiled headlights with the running lights present in three sides. The model will get most of the modifications inside the cabin including a new, larger infotainment display.
However, the automaker has not spoken much for the refreshment of the Titan and Titan XD. It is expected that a 5.6-litre V8 will be carried forward, while the horsepower and fuel economy is likely to be improved. The lower trim levels of the Titan is likely to get a V6 engine, according to the rumours.
Nissan will end the diesel production of the car in this December, while the refreshed Titan and Titan XD will be launched in the market by the end of 2019. These two steps indicate that the brand may introduce new trucks by early 2020.
Wendy Orthman, Nissan’s spokesperson confirms the same by saying, “Production of the Titan XD Diesel will end on December 2019." He also added, "This will help better position Nissan in the long term as we prepare for the launch of the new, dramatically refreshed 2020 Titan and Titan XD later this year.”
The sales of the model need a huge boost. The Japanese automakers have not separated the deliveries of the Titan and Titan XD. Through July 2019, these duos had a sales count of 20,268 units. However, during the same period, the carmaker was able to sell around 25.7 percent more than this year.
