The future for Maserati is quiet, and electric

"Electric is the future" is a phrase that we are listening to for quite a while now, but not all automakers have been able to start the process of transition yet. Maserati, though, is all set to step into the process of transformation as the brand will be launching an all-electric variant alongside the internal combustion engine models of all of its upcoming offerings. The news comes after FCA revealed its child company, that is, Maserati's product road map. So, Maserati's future will, at last, be electric.

In 2020, Maserati will be coming up with a replacement of the GranTurismo in the form of a sports car. The new sports car will, however, serve as the replacement for a short duration as the GranTurismo will make a comeback in the year 2021. And, this all-new sports car that will arrive by next year will feature an all-electric powertrain and kick start the electric journey for Maserati.

Moving on, Maserati will then introduce many other new models in the year 2021 including a brand-new D-UV, an overhauled GranTurismo, and a Cabrio avatar of the upcoming new sports car.

The Maserati will D-UV will share its bits & pieces with the Alfa Romeo Stelvio D-UV and also sport an all-electric trim. Then in 2022, Maserati is expected to introduce an all-new Quattroporte Sports Sedan alongside a Cabrio version of the refreshed GranTurismo.

Then it will be the all-new Levante SUV that will set the stage on fire in 2023. And yes, the Levante SUV will also get an all-electric powertrain.

Another interesting part of the brand's product road map is the Level 3 Autonomous driving capability that Maserati claims to equip all of its newer offerings with.

Since none of the current Maserati models features automated driving capabilities, it will be interesting to see how the automaker develops such advanced tech in such a short period.
