2020 Volkswagen Golf design sketches revealed

The eighth-gen Volkswagen Golf is ready to hit the global market this month. However, ahead of the official launch scheduled for October 24 2019, the carmaker has previewed the exterior and interior styling of the vehicle.

The car has also been spied with varying levels of camouflage during testing, now the design sketches give the first glimpse at how the car will appear in finished form.

The 2020 Volkswagen Golf looks sharply designed, mainly with headlight styling at the front. Its sleek design reminds the XL1 concept which was previewed a couple of years ago. The automaker states the new-gen Golf as more dynamic than earlier models and gets a huge transformation compared to the current version in the market.

The 2020 Volkswagen Golf will be based on an updated MQB architecture that supports a number of Volkswagen models including the next-gen Skoda Octavia, scheduled to be unveiled globally in November this year.

About the interior, the sketch suggests that many physical controls are incorporated in a centrally mounted touchscreen, placed adjacent to the digital instrument display. The interior air vents have been replaced by a thin strip across the dashboard. A small gear shifter is also worth noting, the new vehicle will be getting a shift-by-wire automatic gearbox which free-up space in the centre console.

According to Volkswagen, the new Golf features a “new digital cockpit”, which makes the vehicle a trendsetter in terms of its digitized and connectivity-oriented interior world. The cockpit assists several driving features and online-based functions and services.
