2020 Hyundai Venue - All the details
The Korean automaker launched a funky-looking small SUV back in the spring named Venue. Since its first reveal, it caught our attention. Positioned below the Kona in the brand line-up, the Venue is here to take on the hatchback and compact crossover segments at the same time.
Aimed at the young couples, urban singles, and middle-aged people, with its vogue SUV lifestyle, the all-new Venue can surely be another hit from Hyundai. It is neither too large to move around the city nor too small to resemble a hatchback. In fact comes with a compelling combination of value, equipment, SUV-like styling, high driving position and plenty of safety aid to make you feel protected.
It is available in three variants including, SE, SEL, and Denim, with a starting price of $18,345, covered by Hyundai’s two warranty packs (5-year or 60,000-mile limited and 10-year or 100,000-mile) along with complimentary roadside assistance.
Exterior
The baby SUV on the market carries a style of its own, features the brand’s signature cascading grille, optional LED headlamps with daytime running lights. The DRLs are positioned on the top of the headlamps that get a place on the bumper, something that we don’t see often. It gets a strong shoulder line with flared wheel arches that contribute to its typical SUV appearance.
The standard equipment as seen on the base SE model includes auto headlight control, projection headlights and 15-inch covered steel wheels. The 2020 Venue SEL gets 15-inch aluminium-alloys, roof rails, simulated front, and rear skid plates and rear disc brakes.
The range-topping Denim gets exclusive exterior color options with a contrasting roof (white) along with other trim pieces. Otherwise, there are seven exterior color choices on offer including:
- Ceramic White
- Stellar Silver
- Galactic Gray
- Intense Blue
- Green Apple
- Scarlet Red Pearl
- Black Noir Pearl
The exterior elements like heated ORVMs, LED headlights, LED taillamps and DRLs and 17-inch alloy wheels come under the Premium Package, which opens from the SEL model.

The Venue is the shortest and the widest SUV in the class. It offers tremendous space inside and looks stupendous on the outside. Check out the Hyundai Venue dimensions:

Interior
The cabin is fairly simple with some rugged touches from the outside. The cloth seating surfaces are standard for SE and SEL models, while the Denim gets an exclusive interior color cloth with leatherette combination. The 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system comes as standard with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, Bluetooth and USB connectivity. You can also find built-in navigation that comes with real-time traffic info and free map updates for a 3-year period.
The Venue game is cooler than you think. With the brand’s Blue Link connectivity, you can integrate it with voice-enabled assistants like Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa, simply say “Hey Google, start my car.”
Standard equipment inside the cabin includes a multi-function steering wheel with audio-mounted controls, sliding sun visors with dual vanity mirrors, four speakers, 6-way adjustable driver seat and remote keyless entry.
The SEL variant, on the other hand, gets six speakers and auto transmission and a gateway to packages like Convenience, Connectivity, and Premium.

Hyundai Venue truly justifies that even the smallest of the SUVs can offer ample space. It comes with dual-level cargo, flat-folding rear seat and 60/40 split feature. It has a generous cargo space of 18.7 cubic feet which can be extended up to 31.9 cubic feet with the folded down rear seat.
Engine
The all-new Venue is front-wheel-drive compact SUV, powered by a four-cylinder Smartstream 1.6-liter engine, offering a fuel economy of 32 mpg. The engine fitted inside the SE model is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox, whereas the other two models come with IVT (Intelligent Variable Transmission).
Engine | 1.6-Liter Petrol |
Power | 121 hp |
Torque | 113 Nm |

Safety
On the safety front, the 2020 Venue protects you with a sophisticated set of features aimed to surround and look after you. The company calls it Hyundai SmartSense. The standard features on the Venue include forward collision-avoidance assist with pedestrian detection, lane-keeping assist, driver attention warning, stability and traction control, ABS with EBD, brake assist and front, side and head curtain airbags. Advanced features available are blind-spot collision warning and rear collision cross-traffic warning.
Competitors
The 2020 Venue competes against the likes of Nissan Kicks and Kia Soul. While the Kicks is larger than the Venue and offers an automatic transmission with its base model, the Venue outperforms in terms of features and pricing at which they are on offer.
Comparing the Venue with the Soul, the former looks slightly inferior. The Soul is roomier, more powerful and comes with plenty of tech and comfort features. The areas where the Venue leads are the safety (features lane-keeping assist, forward collision warning) and fuel economy departments.
