Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Review 2024
Sippi Vig says
Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross is styled differently than its rivals. The appealing sporty design not only looks commanding, but it also enables better driving dynamics. Inside Eclipse, the sumptuous interiors offer practical headroom and legroom for both first and second row passengers. Under the hood, the 1.5L turbocharged engine powers the Eclipse to match the adventure. This engine is coupled with the standard CVT with 8-speed sport mode to ensure top of the line performance and make the adventures more exciting. This configuration delivers quick acceleration and punches Eclipse Cross to get from 0–60 mph in 8.6 seconds. Eclipse Cross is available in four grades ES 1.5, LE 1.5, SE 1.5, and SEL 1.5 grades. SE is also available with additional grade featuring power panoramic sunroof and roof rails. Likewise, the SEL grade is available with Touring trim. Each grade can be equipped with 2WD or smart AWC. With starting prices of $22,995, the base grade is priced lower than the competition. This year's upgrade doesn’t have more significant changes to the exteriors, interiors, or performance of the Eclipse Cross. Instead, the whole lineup is revised, and SEL Premium and GT Touring packages are no longer available. While some minor trim changes are made to the entire lineup except the base grade. These include standard automatic high beam, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, and lane departure warning. Also, the upgrade adds comfortable rear seats, lumbar support for the driver's seat, redesigned control buttons, and updated touchscreen.

Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Interior & Features
The interiors of Eclipse Cross will nab your attention. The cabin is spacious and is precisely built with soft-touch materials and will impress you with generous space, intuitive features, and durable fabric. Being priced lower in the segment, the interiors of Eclipse Cross feels rich and up to the standard. The front row is roomy and comes with comfortable seats. Likewise, the rear seats ensure generous headroom and legroom for passengers. In terms of cargo space, Eclipse Cross offers an adequate space of 22.6 Cu. Ft., you can expand the capacity to 48.9 Cu. ft. by folding the second-row seats. Some essential standard features of Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross include a 7-inch touchscreen display, HD radio, Bluetooth, automatic climate control, and glove box. However, the base grade lacks a smartphone link display, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto integration.
Eclipse Cross Exterior
Going by the guise of the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross. Mitsubishi has precisely designed this compact SUV, the captivating front fascia and rear fascia echoes sharp treatment. While the aerodynamic friendly design extends the presence with sculpted exterior lines and empowers the vibrant personality of Eclipse Cross. In the front, the grilles are placed parallel with the LED headlights. On the sides, the standard fog lights and indicator lights provide better visibility, while adding an element to its style. The rear fascia of Eclipse Cross is designed neatly. It includes unique LED taillights that span over the rear window and splits it. However, this distinct rear styling hinders the driver’s rearview vision. The standard exterior features incorporate body-color bumpers, outdoor handles, chrome molding on side windows, heated power side mirrors, rear window defroster, roof spoiler, and shark fin antenna.
Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Ride & Handling
Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross tops the chart when it comes to the ride quality, and handling. The suspension of Eclipse Cross is tuned to ensure that ride quality remains top notch. MacPherson strut suspension in the front is linked with a stabilizer bar to empower the handling on odd road conditions. Likewise, in the rear, the multi-link suspension is connected with the stabilizer bar to optimize the ride and handling. Also, the tuned suspension supports Eclipse Cross over corners. However, when compared to its rivals Hyundai Tucson and Kia Sportage, Eclipse Cross falls short. As while driving it over bumps, it fails to cancel out the vibrations. In terms of handling, Mitsubishi has backed Eclipse Cross with electric power steering that precisely holds the road as per the driver input.
Eclipse Cross Engine & Fuel Consumption
The 2020 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross is a carryover model. Hence in terms of powertrain and performance, it remains unchanged. It is powered by the 1.5L direct-injection turbocharged 4-cylinder engine mated with 8-speed CVT. This engine can produce excellent power of 152 hp at 5,500 rpm and torque of 184 lb. ft. at 2000–3500 rpm. Plus, you can boost the performance with the available sport mode function. Eclipse Cross can sprint from 0–60 mph in just 8.4 seconds. While ensuring excellent fuel economy ratings of 26 mpg in the city, 27 mpg combined, and 29 mpg on the highway.
Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Braking & Safety
To enable intact braking, Eclipse Cross is equipped with all wheel disc brakes, ABS, and EBD. In the front wheels, 11.6-inch ventilated disc brakes are outfitted while in the rear, 11.9-inch solid disc brakes are installed. Also, to ensure the safety of the passengers, Eclipse Cross is equipped with an array of safety features. It includes active stability control, dual-stage front airbags, driver knee airbags, side airbags, and child safety rear locks. Whereas, blind-spot warning, lane change assist, and rear cross-traffic alert, forward collision mitigation with pedestrian detection is available in the top two grades only.
Eclipse Cross Verdict
Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross with its distinct styling clearly stands out from rivals. However, it remains unchanged in 2020 and is powered by the same robust and fuel-efficient 1.5L turbocharged engine. Eclipse Cross is one of the most affordable compact SUVs in the segment. It's priced $2000 — $3000 lower than its rivals, such as Subaru Forester, Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V, and Mazda CX-5.
