The interiors of the 2020 Outlander Sport are similar to the previous generation. However, there are some minor changes made to some elements like the temperature control buttons look refreshed in black and silver gloss. Mitsubishi has upgraded the feel of the cabin with soft-touch materials and seats. Also, the seats now come with heated function to give you a warm welcome. Outlander empowers you with the comfort-centric design and intuitive features that can carry forward your adventures without degrading the experience. However, the newly introduced 8-inch touch screen display is optional with base grade. Like this, base grade 2.0 ES lacks standard Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration. In terms of standard features, each grade of Outlander Sport is equipped with automatic climate control, driver-side auto up/down power window, glove box, and rear heated floor ducts. Apart from these, Outlander Sport grants you with the 21.7 cubic feet of cargo space. This can be increased to 49.5 cubic feet with rear seats folded. 

Mitsubishi Outlander Sport has grown as a stylish and dynamic crossover. This year, it has undergone cosmetic changes with a new fresh exterior styling to its front and rear fascia. In the front, the bold grille is redesigned to enable confident styling. While on the sides, the reengineered cube-shaped fog lights and indicator lights furnish it with next-gen appearance. The LED headlights and LED daytime running lights are standard among all the grades and add substance to the exterior of Outlander Sport. The wheel design is also revised, the 18-inch alloy wheels now look captivating and resemble with the exterior persona of this crossover. Likewise, Outlander Sport now displays thoroughly revised rear fascia. It includes redesigned LED taillights, which further extend the outer appearance of this crossover. The standard features include heated and power-adjustable side mirrors, front and rear intermittent wipers, and rear window defroster. 

Mitsubishi has worked on improving the driving dynamics of Outlander Sport 2020. However, the suspension system remains as of the previous generation model. In the front, the Macpherson strut suspension is fitted with a stabilizer bar, and in the rear multi-link suspension is linked with the stabilizer bar for responsive handling and ride. However, the ride quality is firm over bumpy roads, plus the suspension fails to deflect the vibrations into the cabin. With this, Outlander Sport proves to be an average player in the segment. On the handling front, Outlander is equipped with electric power steering to counter the tight corners and city jams. 

Being available in two different engines, Outlander Sport can get you the best of both worlds. The base 2.0L engine is a little delicate but economical, whereas the 2.4L engine is powerful but less fuel-efficient. Both the engines are mated with the CVT for quick delivery of power. But, the transmission responds sluggishly with the base engine. And, while pushing for instant speed, the motor gets noisy and produces vibrations that hinder cabin comfort. The 2.0L engine can produce power of 148 hp at 6,000 rpm and torque of 145 lb-ft at 4,200 rpm. You can enhance the performance with the GT grade’s 2.4L engine. It can deliver the top-notch performance of 168 hp at 6,000 rpm and torque of 167 lb-ft at 4100 rpm. This engine proves to be better than the base, however, when compared with the performance of the rivals, GT grade’s performance is not up to the bar.  

The braking and safety features are unchanged for 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander. Each grade is equipped with 11.6-inch ventilated disc brakes in the front and 11.9-inch solid disc brakes in the rear. To further magnify the braking capability of Outlander Sport, Mitsubishi has installed all-wheel ABS, EBD, and brake assist in all the trims. Apart from this, in terms of safety and driving assistance features, you’ll get top-notch features. Like, forward collision mitigation alerts you when a pedestrian gets in front of the vehicle. In case you miss to take prompt action on time, then it will automatically apply the brakes to mitigate the collision. Like this, lane departure warning, lane change assist, and blind-spot warning send alerts when it senses a sudden change in the steering direction, or if a vehicle is approaching or crossing from the side. 

Mitsubishi Outlander Sport is one of the best selling crossovers of the company. In 2020, it has been renewed with the fresh exterior design, while the manual transmission is now no longer available across the lineup. However, despite the new upgrades, Outlander Sport trails behind the competition. Its rivals offer better engine performance, comfortable ride, and tuned steering response. Also, the base grades of OutlanderSport lacks safety features that many of its competitors offer as standard.
