Volvo bets a million dollars on safety at the Super Bowl LIV
Volvo plans to give away $1 million worth of brand new cars if safety is scored at the upcoming Super Bowl LIV games. The giveaway marks the celebration of more than one million lives saved by Volvo safety innovations.
Safety is an unpredictable scoring play in football which is applied when the team at the offense zone makes a tackle or loses the ball, or ends up with a penalty in their own end zone.
Interestingly, a sum total of 9 safeties have occurred in an overall of 53 games in the Super Bowl’s history so far. The campaign is being called as the Volvo Safety Sunday and represents Volvo’s reputation for the safety features it provides.
Volvo has been in the books of history for its numerous innovations and world-first inventions, including the three-point safety belt in 1959. The patent for the safety belt, which was made open to all automakers marks as the essential safety feature to date.
While discussing their ongoing campaign, Jim Nichols from Volvo Car USA commented, “From the invention of the three point-safety belts sixty years ago to other world firsts, safety is at the center of everything we do at Volvo,” the Brand Communications manager also added. “In football, a safety play can be a game changer. At Volvo, our safety innovations have changed the game for millions on the road.”
Users can register themselves for the ongoing campaign by visiting VolvoSafetySunday.com. The winners of the promotion will be at random, and Volvo will give away new cars currently available in the U.S. market until the value reaches $1 million.
Lastly, the campaign will be effective at the game of Super Bowl LIV on February 2, featuring the San Francisco 49ers against the Kansas City Chiefs.
