Renault debuts Twingo Z.E. electric hatch, gets 250 kilometers drive range

The Renault Twingo III received a facelift this year. However, if that was not enough, the French company is now bringing an all-electric variant of the same. Dubbed as the Twingo Z.E., this EV hatchback might be the next big thing from the automaker and would go up against other small zero-emission cars from Volkswagen and Skoda.

The zero-emission Renault Twingo Z.E. takes over a lot of elements from the Twingo III. The cabin gets a lot of “Z.E.” logos everywhere. There are noticeable changes to the dashboard. The company even offers different colors of stitches and trim bits based on the variant the buyers choose. The dashboard holds a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system that gets the Easy Connect service.

The Twingo Z.E does not compromise on the spaciousness either. The comfort level has been taken in the default cargo space i.e. 240 liters. However, fold the rear seats and you get a storage space of 980 liters.

On the exterior side too, several things are similar to the IC engine Twingo. However, there are still some bit of additions that are unique to the electric hatchback. These new additions include blue highlights on the front grille, wheels and side stripes. There is also a Z.E. Electric badge on the B-pillars. The charging port has been fitted around the place that is usually the fuel tank cap.

Mechanically, the electric motor on the Renault Twingo Z.E electric hatchback produces a maximum power of 80 hp and a peak torque of 160 Nm. The produced power is sent to the rear wheels, which is the same drivetrain as the internal combustion model.

The electric motor gets its power from a 22 kWh Lithium battery pack, which is placed under the front seat. This can offer a total driving range of up to 250 kilometers. The hatchback might not have very exciting power figures but is ample for city driving. It can do the 0-50 kmph sprint in 4 seconds and can hit a top speed of 135 kmph.

Renault does not do business in the American market. Hence, we cannot expect the Twingo Z.E electric hatch here.
