Peugeot Landtrek pickup to debut in Africa and Latin America by the end of 2020

Peugeot has made it official that it will be bringing the Landtrek pickup truck for the Latin American and African markets. Moreover, it has also been claimed that it will be available in a plethora of body types and engine options.

The Peugeot Landtrek gets all the signature styling language that the brand is known for, including the vertical grille with chrome additions, the Lion logo in the front and the rear and LED taillights. The single-cab body is 5.39 meters long while the double-cab version is a tad shorter at 5.33 meters.

Peugeot has worked very hard to get the Landtrek to be extremely versatile. It is claimed to have undergone over 2 million kilometers (roughly 1.2 million miles) of testing over various terrains and weather conditions to perfect its versatility and off-road capabilities. It even has a towing capacity of 3.5 tonnes.

The cabin of the Landtrek is a posh place to be in. The dashboard is designed to look a lot similar to the 508 sedan. The dual-zone automatic climate control is one of the major highlights in the pickup, and so is the large 10-inch HD touchscreen display for the infotainment system. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are complementary to this setup.

The Peugeot Landtrek will be available in both petrol and diesel engine options. The 2.4-liter turbo petrol engine will be capable of producing a maximum power of 210 hp and a peak torque of 320 Nm. On the other hand, the 1.9-liter diesel engine can churn out 150 hp power, along with a peak torque of 350 Nm. The diesel will get a 6-speed manual gearbox, while the petrol powertrain will get an optional 6-speed manual or automatic shift.

The Peugeot Landtrek would make its debut by the end of 2020. It will be available in single-cab, double-cab and chassis bodies. Though it is slated for African and Latin American markets, it isn’t sure whether the USA will get the same or not.

For now, Peugeot does not do business in the American market but there are talks that it might make a return. If it does return here, we might get the Landtrek.
