Lexus revealed the LF-30 Electrified EV concept at Tokyo
Lexus showcased the all-new LF-30 Electrified, an all-electric concept, at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show. The model was teased through a video-teaser earlier, but that could not reveal much about the car. Now that the LF-30 has been unveiled, we know it’s a swanky crossover that features futuristic design and technology of Lexus’ electric models.
Takashi Watanabe, chief engineer for Lexus electrified projects said, “This concept is not directly linked to a specific product but symbolises the electrification vision of Lexus.”
On the exterior, the four-seater crossover features gargantuan gullwing doors and a massive glass roof extending from front to rear. The model is 5090 mm long, 1995 mm wide, and 1600 mm and has a 3,200 mm wheelbase.
Another major talking point is its electric powertrain which is capable of offering a range of 500 km range. It constitutes four electric motors housed within each wheel, which hold the capacity to generate 536 PS of power and 700 Nm of torque. As per the firm, LF-30 Electrified is capable of completing the 0-100 kmph sprint in 3.8 seconds. The top speed is rated at 200 kmph. The battery pack supports charging speeds up to 150kW.
Inside the cabin, the model gets a futuristic dashboard that takes design inspiration from the Lexus concept of "Tazuna". The steering wheel is identical to a game controller which holds the control for a head-up display having an audio system, drive modes, and navigation functionality.
Large seats and personal infotainment system extends the experience of a Business Class flight. The rear seats come with an artificial muscle technology that can mold to the shape of the occupants and offer reclining, relaxation and alert functions.
The Japanese luxury automaker is heading towards its vision of electrifying its entire lineup by 2025, with its first all-electric vehicle LF-30. Stay tuned to Zigwheels USA for more such insights.
