GMC Sierra & Chevy Silverado Electric Pickup Trucks Coming?

Electric mobility is on the card very soon in the United States. However, it is even more interesting to learn that this zero-emission powertrain is gradually embracing the truck industry too. GM seems to be working on electric trucks for GMC and Chevy, though the automaker itself is tight-lipped on the same.

The rumors of GM making electric versions of the GMC Sierra and Chevrolet Silverado started doing rounds on the internet quite a long time back. However, the rumors became more concrete. The revelation could be traced from the recent EV Day, and though the automaker omitted talking about these developments, the releases of the even lead us to believe so.

The EV Day even by General Motors saw the automaker reveal that the Cadillac Escalade-sized EV truck would be built on the same platform as the Hummer SUV and electric pickup. The reason GM has talked about this platform as it is a truck’s build, which indicates that bringing the GMC and Chevy EV pickup would be easy.

GM, with its sub-brands, would love to take on Ford, the American automaker that is currently dominating the pickup truck segment in America. Ford has already announced the EV F-150 truck and there are other similar models too, like the Nikola Badger and Tesla Cybertruck. So, an electric form for the GMC Sierra and Chevy Silverado would make a lot of sense in this competition.

The competition in the electric pickup truck segment is not real yet, but things have become fierce already. It would be worth waiting to see which of the trucks head to the roads first and manages to win hearts.

Plus, with so many trucks set for a launch in a similar time frame, it is to be seen which on wins the battle of price and specs.
