Built to serve or Built Tough? Ram reveals special edition truck dedicated to the Armed forces

Armed with some of the toughest trucks in the American market, Ram never fails to impress its audience with top-of-the-line special editions. To keep up with its own trend, Ram rolled out another special edition dedicated to the Armed forces of America. The Ram 1500 'Built to Serve' edition is not wrapped with mechanical tweaks but with few cosmetic changes instead.

With Power-Wagon and Rebel making a mark in the market, we were expecting something more tough from the all-new Ram ‘Built to serve’ edition. Anyway, a while back when Chevy partnered with musician Kid Rock and developed a special edition called the ‘Kid Rock Edition’ way back in 2015, we had it coming that the automobile industry needs more of its kind. Now Ram introduced something called the ‘Built to Serve’ edition which will don the American flag on its tail and ‘Built to Serve’ tag in and around the truck.

This special edition will be available for all of the five branches of the armed forces which include the Army, Navy, Airforce, Marines, and Coast Guard) and will be available in 2 colors each for every branch. This special edition also gets brushed-gray alloy wheels, and blacked-out grille, bumpers, headlight surrounds, and dual exhaust tips.

There are velcro patches inside, so as the veterans or active-duty men can stick patches on the Ram 1500 'Built to Serve'. The quantity of these trucks will be capped to just 9,000 units in total. This special edition was brought in to celebrate Ram’s initiative called the ‘Ram Nation’ which revolves around encouraging the volunteering events for the veterans.

“Ram wants to honor those who are serving or have served the United States with distinction,” said Reid Bigland, head of Ram brand. “For Ram truck owners – whether military or civilian – ‘Built to Serve’ is a maxim that they can be proud to stand behind. We also want to bring together Ram owners who are not currently serving to make a difference in their communities. We launched our Ram Nation volunteer organization in 2015 as a way to give our Ram truck owners a way to be involved when there’s a need.
