BMW teases Concept i4, designed similar to Concept 4 Gran Coupe
The BMW Concept i4 is set to make a debut next month at the 2020 Geneva Motor Show. However, the German luxury automaker has teased the concept ahead of its debut. Plus, some technical details were also revealed some time back.
This concept car will preview the first-ever fully electric Gran Coupe for Munich, something that we know as a 4-door coupe. According to what the brand has said about this concept, the i4 is made to take driving pleasure and excellent dynamics a new dimension, something that BMW has always focused on doing. All of this would be taken care of while ensuring absolutely zero-emission.
Looking at the silhouette of the revealed show car, it is expected to be a 4 Series car that BMW previewed back in September 2019 as the Concept 4. The car had a very close resemblance in designing as a conventional coupe, though the front nose grille takes the typical styling off the charts. The car has attractive sculpting in the front as well as the rear.
The BMW Concept 4 from last year and the present teased car look closely similar to each other at one glance. Only keen eyes can distinguish the slight changes, like the marginally elongated window line and the absence of the rear door handle on Concept 4.
Getting under the hood, the BMW Concept i4 could get the 5th generation e-drive powertrain. This means, there would be a redesigned electric motor, battery, and electronics. The electric motor mounted at the rear will be capable of making a maximum power of 530 PS. The i4 is claimed to have a top speed of over 200 kmph and can make the 0-100 kmph acceleration in just 4 seconds.
As for the driving range, there could a big 80 kWh battery packed under the floor. This battery would be capable of offering a very long range of 600 kilometers. It can be charged up to 8 % in just around 35 minutes.
The production-ready form of the BMW i4 is expected to debut sometime in 2021.
