Bentley Mulliner Bacalar to premiere today is a roofless sports tourer
Even post the cancellation of the Geneva Motor Show 2020, the excitement level is not going down anytime soon. One of the many premieres and reveals, Mulliner is not ready to push back the debut date. Bentley Bacalar is right on track to be premiered on the 3rd of March, today.
There have been many rumors regarding this major debut, even the ones that claimed it to be an ultra-expensive car with a “Flying B” logo. However, with the latest teaser that we have now, the automaker has seriously made something ultra-fancy, a roof-less car.
The Bentley Bacalar by Mulliner is the ultimate sports tourer with an open-top and an open-cockpit. It is believed that the Bentley will not even have a convertible type soft-top as the rear deck is very small. In fact, it is so small that the roof mechanism cannot be fitted at all.
It has been built by taking inspiration from the EXP 100 GT. However, this, by no way, means that it will take a lot of cues from the concept. To start things first, we now know that the body style is completely different than the concept coupe. Even the powertrain is most likely to be different. It is expected to go for the automaker's W12 6.0-liter engine instead of the electric powertrain. The combustion engine would make 626 hp and a whopping 900 Nm of torque.
Coming to the body type, this open-roof Bentley Bacalar will be lighter than the Continental GT Convertible, thanks to the absence of the rear row and roof mechanism. The Continental weighs 2,414 kilograms and so the drop in weight in Bacalar will surely give it a performance boost.
The premiere event of the Bentley Bacalar by Mulliner will be streamed live on the automaker's YouTube channel. The event starts at 8:30 GMT.
