Audi RS7 Sportback is world’s fastest armored car
An armored vehicle apparently isn't something you would normally correlate with high speeds, but one brand is out to demonstrate that does not have to be the case. Wyoming-based AddArmor has covered the Audi RS7 with its exclusive in-house paneling and ballistic glass to deliver what it states is the fastest armored car in the world. The armor package on the Audi RS7 comprises of polycarbonate body panels and ballistic glass consisting of layers of polycarbonate, which weighs 60 percent less and claims to be 10 times stronger than ballistic steel.
AddArmor stated that it should grant protection against replicated impacts from rough objects like cinder blocks, and when it attains to firepower, the armor is efficient enough to stop a .44 Magnum round. All the armor adds around 200 lb (90 kg) to the RS7, which has been balanced with a special performance package that puts out 760 hp of maximum power and 1,085 Nm of peak torque.
The car can achieve 0-60 mph sprint in just 2.9 seconds, while the top speed is listed as 202 mph. In addition to that, RS7 comes equipped with Pirelli P Zero Run Flat tires, which can possibly continue driving for 30 mi even after being shot with a high-powered rifle. AddArmour’s president, Jeff Engen mentioned that "With the new AddArmor APR RS7, we wanted to demonstrate how today's armoring technology allows drivers to pick from a wide range of cars not normally associated with armored vehicles."
Moving to the security features, it packs a sonic sound canon along with 120-decibel siren, pepper spray dispensers and electric-shock door handles. There is also a kit of biometric gun racks for handguns and assault rifles tucked away in the trunk.
