Alfa Romeo might unveil something special in June
As the year 2020 marks the 110th anniversary of Alfa Romeo, recent reports claim that a new mystery model might be unveiled by the Italian carmaker. The new model will be introduced at a special event hosted in Turin, Italy, in summer this year, to celebrate Alfa Romeo’s birthday.
However, not much details are available on the upcoming offering but the sources speculate that the new model will either be a coupe or a crossover. Though both the propositions seem intriguing, the crossover body style has less risk of falling out of demand as it is more popular around the world as compared to a coupe. A new compact may not please the enthusiasts, but it will surely increase the sale of the carmaker.
The new compact crossover may be built on the PSA platform, as a result of the recent merger between FCA and PSA. On the contrary, as a tribute to Alfa Romeo’s fabled two-door models, the mysterious new model could turn out to be a new coupe. The company might also stick to its future roadmap and preview Alfa Romeo’s future C-segment or B-segment SUV which are planned to go on sale in the year 2021 and 2022 respectively.
Sadly, Alfa Romeo has canceled plans for the production of its 8C, making it very unlikely for the mysterious model to be a follow-up variant of the 8C. Just like other city-friendly soft-roaders, the mysterious model is also speculated to be of the same size as the Flat 500X or the Jeep Renegade.
Previously, Alfa organized a celebration in Milan with concerts and other events all across the city for many days, when it turned 100 in 2010. The Guilietta, which is a hatchback, was also launched on this occasion and yet remains its entry-level model in 2020.
